
Juergen Puetter—Chair, CEO and A/CFO—overall corporate and project responsibility
Juergen has had a distinguished career of converting innovative concepts into successful businesses.
In 1977 he started Bionaire (indoor environmental control products) and took the company public in 1984 on the Toronto and Montreal stock exchanges. He served as President until 1992, when he moved to the West Coast to start Hydroxyl Systems (water and wastewater treatment), which he ran as president until 2003. He was responsible for much of the innovation pioneered and developed at both companies.
Juergen founded Aeolis Wind Power (wind energy developer) in 2003, which he continues to run as President. Aeolis was a developer of the first commercial wind farm in BC, the 102 MW Bear Mountain Wind project, and continues to develop several large-scale projects in partnership with Evolugen, Boralex, Enercon and others. In 2019 the latest project, Moose Lake Wind, came on line under BC Hydro’s SOP program.
In 2008 the Government of Canada appointed Juergen to serve as Chair of Sustainable Development Technology Canada, SDTC which he did until 2013. He continued as a member of the Board of Directors until the fall of 2018.
In 2010 Juergen was appointed by the Premier of BC to serve on the Muskaw–Kechika advisory board as a director, a role he continues to serve to this day.
In 2012 Juergen founded Canadian Methanol to take advantage of Canada’s abundant natural gas and renewable energy resources, as well as BC’s strategic location as a global supplier of methanol.

Ron Britton, Ph.D.—Chief Technology Officer
Ron is an internationally seasoned executive with a strong technology background who, over the last 40 years, has lived and worked in a variety of countries. He has served as Senior Vice President of Emerging Energy Applications at Methanex (the world’s leading methanol producer, marketer, and distributer), where he was responsible for global implementation of the company’s growth strategy based on the development of new synthesis gas technology. He has also been President and CEO of Fuel Cells Canada, a not-for-profit corporation with a mandate to accelerate the development and commercialization of the Canadian fuel cell industry on behalf of its members.
Upon retiring from Fuel Cells Canada Ron established Crossroads Consulting, a specialized consultancy in renewable energy focused on converting renewables into useful materials for energy storage. Ron’s creative ideas in this realm, based on science and rooted in decades of experience in the energy industry, were foundational for RH2C.

Glenn Kowalsky—Vice President, Engineering
Glenn is an accomplished oil and gas facilities developer who has spearheaded the implementation and operation of over $300 million in enterprise value. He has a degree in chemical engineering from UBC and over 30 years of experience in the energy industry in Western Canada. He has served as Director of Business Development at Keyera, Vice President, Engineering at Canadian Methanol, and Chief Origination Officer at Switliner Energy Services.
With his strong business development origination and promotion skills, Glenn is an innovative implementer of viable new technologies with a profound knowledge of Western Canada’s energy infrastructure, indispensable attributes for launching the ground-breaking projects upon which Renewable Hydrogen Canada is embarking.

Steve Davis—Vice President,
Business Development
Steve has been developing clean energy projects and influencing provincial energy policy for 30 years. During most of the 1990s Steve was President of one of FortisBC’s project development subsidiaries. In 2000 he launched and led Ledcor’s power generation subsidiary. Five years ago Steve led ENGIE’s business development efforts in Western Canada. Over those 30 years Steve developed Independent Power Projects (IPPs) using biomass, small hydro, natural gas and wind power in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Alaska and Washington.
To bid on and develop those projects Steve assembled and led several consortia composed of engineers, builders, operators, environmental and PR consultants, lenders, lawyers and equity sponsors. At the same time, Steve was also a leading industry advocate for IPPs and public-private partnerships (P3). Steve is in his 26th year of being elected to serve on the board of the Clean Energy Association of B.C. and was President for 10 years. Steve was a founding director of the Canadian Council for P3 and represented B.C. for 10 years. In those industry-level positions Steve co-authored and was the lead advocate of well over a dozen papers on provincial electricity policy matters, including: BC Hydro power procurement processes and off-take contracts, Crown land tenures for hydro and wind IPPs, export and industrial electricity policy, P3 transmission lines, and the electrification of LNG terminals and upstream gas production facilities. Steve has a civil engineering degree from UBC and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.

Doug Stout—Strategic Market Adviser
Doug brings over 40 years of experience in the Canadian energy sector, spanning strategic planning, marketing, business development, renewable energy projects, indigenous relations and government relations. Since 1994 Doug has held executive roles with a number of companies. He served as Vice President with Fortis BC Energy Inc., President of Fortis Alternative Energy Services from 2001 through 2020, Vice President, Belkorp Industries Inc., from 1999 to 2001 and Vice President, Husky Energy Inc. from 1994 to 1999. Prior to these roles he held various management and engineering roles with Husky Energy Inc and Peter Kiewit Sons'.
He has served on the boards of a number of industry associations, including the Canadian LNG Alliance, Northwest Gas Association and Canadian Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance. He has been involved with the Natural Gas Innovation Fund since its inception. The fund functions as an early stage investor in natural gas, renewable natural gas and hydrogen-related technologies. He was also a board member and chair of Pacific Coast Terminals and Sultran Ltd
during his tenure with Husky Energy Inc.
Most recently he has played a lead role in BC in developing initiatives in the natural gas and electricity sector, the clean transportation sector including road and marine transport, renewable energy systems for building complexes, LNG production and storage facilities, renewable natural gas facilities and clean power projects. He has worked extensively with federal, provincial and municipal governments to develop supporting regulation and legislation for these activities and has also developed partnership arrangements to further new initiatives.
He has lead the development of relationships and agreements with indigenous communities across BC, including an industry leading investment partnership with the Cowichan and Chemainus nations in the Mt. Hayes LNG facility on Vancouver Island. Doug was directly involved in the ground breaking environmental review and approval of the Eagle Mountain Pipeline Project by the Squamish First Nation and in the development of the subsequent governance agreements resulting from this process. He has also been involved is assessing and developing a number renewable power projects with indigenous communities across BC.
Doug’s background also includes extensive international business expertise including leading commercial negotiations for sales, marketing and partnership agreements with multiple entities.
Doug holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Alberta.

Jim Stewart—Chair, California BioEnergy Producers Association
Employed in renewable energy project development for the past 15 years, Jim Stewart has either held management positions or served as a consultant in projects intended to produce biofuels or renewable natural gas from a wide range of emerging technologies.
Jim has served throughout that time as Chairman of California’s BioEnergy Producers Association, advocating for the introduction of conversion technologies in the production of renewable biofuels and other products. He has four times been voted one of the Top 100 people in the BioEconomy in annual polls of the readers of Biofuels Digest.
Prior to transitioning his career to renewable energy, Jim was employed in the entertainment industry, four years with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and 13 years with Walt Disney Productions, where he attained the title of Vice President-Corporate Relations and Assistant to the President.

Winona White, Senior Accountant, Office Manager
Winona joined the Aeolis team in 2008 in the role of Senior Accountant. Since then she has taken on the same role for Canadian Methanol Corporation and Renewable Hydrogen Canada Corporation. Since 2017, Winona has also been the Office Manager for these companies. She has over 25 years’ experience in accounting management, finance and business analysis for high-tech companies and small business and holds a Masters Certificate in Business Analysis. |
